A Story Worth Telling: Amelia

Dear friends,

As Amelia (*Name changed to protect birth mom’s privacy) walked into the coffee shop with her very pregnant belly and Chiefs gear, I noticed her eyes – bright, clear, focused, and full of love. Her voice told a different story –  a life of pain, addiction, and six other children currently cared for by others. Five months sober, determined to give her son life, she knew that an adoption plan was the best path forward for her baby.

She gave birth the very next day, and as I walked into her hospital room her stunning eyes gazed at the beautiful baby boy lying with her on the bed. She told me his name and its meaning – “messenger of God”. This name would be a gift to her son.

Amelia chose an open adoption, desiring to build a special relationship with the adoptive family and her son. She chose a family that represented small town life to her. As she met Brett and Amy in the hospital, they all cried when learning the name Brett and Amy had chosen was the name Amelia had given this precious baby boy.  The gift of his name would be kept by his adoptive parents.

Zoe’s House needs to raise $375,000 to meet the needs of birth moms, adoptive families, and children in 2024. Thank you for helping us continue our mission to serve them with dignity and the love of Christ!
